1. Do you think humans will need to move to another planet? Why or why not?
2. If it does happen that some humans move to another planet, would you volunteer to go? Why or why not?
3. Read this article about people who have signed up to move to Mars: http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/09/tech/innovation/mars-one-applications/index.html What is your reaction to this story?
4. What do you think Ray Bradbury wanted the readers of "All Summer in a Day" to understand? What did you think after reading this story?
I do not think that there will be a day that we'll be in-need to move to another planet and forget our nice and sweet earth . Even though our planet has lost many of its sources that can not be compensate easily or in a short time, but still we do have enough basic needs that important for surviving here on earth. Therefore, sometimes I see spending these huge amount of money on space exploration its just a waste of time and money. Moreover, taking care of our planet is better than thinking of something that no one has an accurate information about it such as when, how, where, and what, will something happen that in-force us to leave our planet.
I would never volunteer for something like that. I do not even want to think about it, because I think I need more time to be here. I would like to spend all the time that I have or remains in my life with my family, relatives, and my friend. In other hand, I have heard that those who volunteer to go to space and to another planet they have to sing and be agree on that the trip is one way and not round trip. So it mean they do not chance to return to earth! This can be interpreted as putting your life into a big risk that no one know what will happen or no one will guarantee you to stay a live in your trip which is I see it kind of irrational.
I can say it's kind of strange! and unbelievable! Meanwhile, I can say it's all right! There is a quote saying " As long as you live more you will see more." I have a lot to say about this article. It has different area to think about. First, concerning those who invented the idea. I think it's away to prove their theory about having chance to life on Mars by sending numerous of people to there, and it is a new away to make money. Second, concerning those people who wants to go there. I think each of them has different story and based on that they have decided to go to Mars, even though it's there life and they have right to do what they desire, but I can say that in our planet no one is surplus or excess till we put them into risk.
4. What do you think Ray Bradbury wanted the readers of "All Summer in a Day" to understand? What did you think after reading this story?
I think he wants to say that every single thing such as son in our planet has its own value. Also he wants to say that we do not know the importance of those things that we have them on our planet until we lost them or leave them. In other words, we are not showing our appreciation toward those resources that we have them on earth, and we use them inappropriate way. In addition, he wants to tell us how humans will be stranger on other planet! and it will be kind of impossible to survive in other place while each place or planet has it's own environment which might be hard to adapt these differences by humans. I can say even in our planet when someone travel from his place to another or from his country to another, it's hard to forget your birthplace and you look forward to go back to your home. Finally, this story tells us how much our planet is precious in order to respect it by taking care of it. I hope everyone including my self start to protect our planet.
